Entrances connect urban spaces. Between tall buildings, along busy streets, left and right we find entrances. Walkways, doors, windows. Sometimes they are a passage for our senses. Form light to dark, loud to quiet, restlessness to serenity.
Sometimes an entrance is a public invitation. We feel personally compelled to be absorbed by what lies ahead: a park, the wares in a boutique, the tranquility of a secret courtyard.
Others entrances are so private, they're closed, locked or boarded up. Without a key we are left only with clues: a crack, a sound, a suggestion from the architecture of the surrounding building. Who might live? What kind of work is done there?
